Track work order production

Civic Platform provides a way for agencies to track work order production, which allows them to have realistic expectations for a work crew with realistic estimated costs for completion.

Once the actual work order cost is entered into Civic Platform, the actual data is compared against a defined estimated standard. As a result, the costs and crew performance for a work order can be compared on an equal basis with other work orders. Agencies can use this information to budget, plan, and problem solve.

Note: Work order tracking must be enabled by your system administrator. Contact your system administrator with any questions.

Enter data for work order production tracking

To track work order production, data must be entered in the fields used for tracking.

To enter data for work order production tracking

Open the Work orders page.
Select New for a new work order.
Complete the required fields and others as needed. See Work order details for a complete list of fields.
Notes:
- If the default value for Est. prod. units is incorrect, enter the appropriate value.
- When closing the work order for each day's activity, update production information in the Actual prod. units field.
Select Submit.

Civic Platform automatically validates the Actual prod. units and Est. prod. units fields and then saves the record in production history.

Recalculate work order production

If an agency changes default or estimated standard values for a work order type, existing work orders can be recalculated to reflect the change. Recalculation helps maintain consistency when comparing work orders.

Changes to the default or estimated standard values must be made by a system administrator.

To recalculate work order production

From the Work orders page, select the check box(es) next to the work order(s) you want to recalculate.
Select Menu > Recalculate.

Civic Platform executes the calculations and creates a new record for production history.

View work order production history

Civic Platform provides the ability to maintain a history of work order production. This history shows recalculations and may assist in anticipating the inflation rate. It may also assist in comparing production crew efficiency at different times of the year.

To view a work order production history

From the Work orders page, open the desired work order.
Select the Production history tab.
