Distribute costs for a work order

You can distribute costs from multiple access points within the Work order page, including the Summary, Assignments and costs, Part, and Record tabs. If there are multiple assets associated with a work order, you have multiple options for cost distribution.

To distribute costs

1. From the Work Order page, find and open the work order with which you want to work.

2. Do one of the following:

   • From either the Summary or Record tabs, hover over Menu and select Distribute costs.

     or

   • From either the Assignments and costs or Part tabs, select the Distribute costs button.

3. Select Costing and/or Parts, depending on how you want to select items for costing.

4. Select one or more items for distribution.

   Notes:

   • To select all the items in the list, mark the check box in the header row above the check box column.

   • As you select items, the Total amount to be distributed at the top of the page is updated to reflect your selections.

5. Select Next.

6. Select the assets to which you want to distribute costs and select Next.

7. Select the distribution method you want to use:

   • By number of assets:

     1. Select By Number of Assets and select Next.

   • By asset size

     1. Select By Asset Size and select Next.

        Note: If the assets in a work order are all of the linear class type, when you distribute costs among them by Asset Size, the costs are in fact distributed by the Work Lengths of the assets. Work Length is the distance between the start location and end location of the linear assets in the work order.

   • By asset type

     1. Select By Asset Type.

        Civic Platform displays a list of Asset types.

     2. Complete these fields:

        Field	Description
        Distribute by size	Enable to distribute costs to an asset based on the asset size. This option displays when distributing work order costs to a polygon, linear, or node-link linear asset class.
        Percentage	The percentage of the total cost you want to distribute to each asset type. The sum of all the Percentage field values must equal 100%.

     3. Select Next.

   • By manual allocation

     1. Select By manual allocation.

        Note: Civic Platform displays the Manual allocation cost distribution section.

     2. Enter the amount you want to distribute to each associated asset in the Cost field. (The Cost fields may be to the far-right of the dialog.)

        Note: The total cost you allocate to all assets must equal the cost allocation for distribution

     3. Select Next.

        Note: The Distribution summary page summarizes the cost distribution based on your selections.
   Note: Before you distribute, you can modify the distribution details by selecting the Edit link next to the item you want to modify.

8. Select Distribute.
