Attach, create, view, and detach GIS objects in a record
While working with records in Civic Platform, you can attach GIS objects to the current record. This allows anyone working with the record to geographically visualize the impact or extent of the transaction record within the agency’s jurisdiction.

Open a record.

Select the GIS tab.

Select the GIS button.

Select Show GIS objects.

Use the map to find and select the map features you want to attach to the record.

Select the GIS objects tab and choose Actions > Attach to record.

If you selected multiple GIS objects, Civic Platform prompts you to choose the primary GIS object.

Select the < Back to... navigation link at the top left corner of the map to go back to the record's GIS tab.
The GIS tab displays the selected GIS objects that have been attached to the record.
You can create a GIS object from the GIS tab in a record.
Note: You need system permissions to create a GIS object in a record. To get these permissions added to your login credentials, contact your agency administrator.

From the GIS tab, select Create GIS objects to open the map.

Navigate the map to the location where you want to create a map feature. See Create and edit map features.

After creating the object, attach it to the record. See Attach a GIS object in a record.
You can view a GIS object from a record's GIS tab.
To view a GIS object from a record

Open a record.

Select the GIS tab.

Select the Feature ID for the object you want to view on the map dashboard.
The map dashboard opens and highlights the selected GIS object.
You can detach any GIS object from a record from the record's GIS tab.
To detach a GIS object from a record

Open a record.

Select the GIS tab.

Select the check box(es) next to the Feature ID(s) you want to detach and select Delete.
