Create a time variable alert
Use time variables in alerts to notify specific users about events or notices.
Note: You can use the following time variables in alerts:

$$Today$$
-
$$Today+N$$
-
$$Today-N$$
You can configure a time variable alert by creating an alert rule and then attaching that alert rule to an alert.
To create the time variable alert rule

From the Administration menu, select Communication manager > Alert rule.

Select New.

Enter the Name of the alert rule.

Use the following parameters to configure the rest of the alert rule fields:
Type: Alert Message
Rule items: Record - Open Date <= $$TODAY-2$$ AND Record - Assigned to Staff is null
Enabled: Yes

Select Submit.
To attach the time variable alert rule to an alert

From the Administration menu, select Communication manager > Alert.

Create a new alert with message type Alert message.

Specify the content, duration, and status (enabled).

Select Submit.

Open the alert you just created.

Select the Recipient tab and select Assign user to specify the user(s) you want to notify.

Select the Alert rule tab and select Look up to specify the alert rule you created.
To validate that the alert is working

Create or modify a test record with an opened date more than 2 days in the past (for example, 10/21/20xx) and a scheduled date after the opened date (for example, 10/30/20xx).

Select the Alerts link at the top of the console in Civic Platform to validate that the alert triggers successfully.
